Late Shri Harish Raut. (1925-2002)

Harish Raut was a Figurative Artist with a strong basis of the decorative element. He idealizes the rural belles and the chores of their daily life.He began with the rural camoes of his own home township (Bordi) and then moved on to the neigbouring Bassein. Desiring to enlarge his repertoire he went to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala for inspiration and to study the human figures and their costumes. His eternal search for the subject has aided him to develop a fine sense of observation.

Major Awards :   Gold Medal- Acedamy of Fine Arts, Kolkata 1962. Governers Silver Medal for Best Entry in the Exhibition, Bombay Art Society , 1968.  Silver Medal- Academy of Indian Art, Amritsar 1961. Silver Medals- Kalidas Exhibition, Ujjain 1960 and 1965. Silver Plaque- Tagore exhibition, Gwalior 1961.Maharashtra State Art Exhibition Award- 1971.  Art Society of India Bombay Award- 1970
